I'm Sorry

I want to apologize. I'm apologizing to every Muslim, Iraqi, or Arab that has been affected by my Country's unjustified, inexcusable, and hate filled war in Iraq. America was wrong. We were all wrong to elect George Bush and we were all wrong not to throw his lying ass out.

I have watched the death and destruction of beautiful ancient places, once full of life now quiet and in ruins. I have watched as innocent people were mamed and wounded, some killed, all for nothing. My own countrymen and women sent as lambs to slaughter by a group of men who are evil. These men have highjacked our country. My beautiful America isn't recognizable anymore. It's full of people who are suspicious, who are racist, who are petty and ignorant. It didn't start out this way over two hundred years ago. How did it get this way? Where was the fork in the road and how did we miss it?

For many years to come, our people will be frightened of one another. I suspect that we will always think the worst of each other. Ultimately our generation will have to die before the wounds will heal. Many years of anguish lie ahead for all of us.

I know that I will not forget my part in this travesty. Did I protest this war? Yes, I did. But that wasn't enough. I and many others in America should have done more but our success and wealth traquilizes us. We are sloth-like in our protest and as a result people died. Someday, if I'm lucky, I will have the opportunity to make amends.

I can only apologize for me. Unfortunately, I can't speak for the other millions of people out there. Just know, that we are not all the same.
