As Time Goes By....

It has been nearly two months since my last post. Whew, has my life been busy!! I've been working harder than ever, trying to get the endless stream of moving boxes emptied into my new abyss of a house, and I've begun a new relationship. So far the new house and the guy are both working out. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of them.

Another important thing has happened just in the last few weeks, the groundswell of opposition to the Republican Neo-Con regime and it's eventual overthrow. That's right, as far as I'm concerned, this last midterm election can not be considered anything less than an overthrow of government. It was a bloodless, less messy overthrow than most, but an overthrow none the less. As I watched the election returns, I remember thinking how this felt very much like a presidential election instead of a midterm election. In many ways, this election was just as important as any presidential election. One thing is for certain, George Bush hasn't got nearly the all encompassing power he had only a few weeks ago. He is now just a guy with the power of veto. The reign of King George is no more.

I hope that now that the Country has "gone blue", that the blue leadership knows how to fix things. We all have to admit it's a mess out there. This very thorough fuck up will not be fixed with a few passed bills and some press conferences. This is big. This fix will have to have long term commitment and lots of resources.

My prayer is that our noble men and women in uniform can come home. Their lives are far too precious to be lost in nafarious causes. They aren't keeping Americans free as much as they are keeping the oil barrons rich.

Lastly, I would love to see George Bush put on trial for war crimes the same as Saddam Hussein. Abu Ghraib and the massacre at a small Iraqi town by soldiers show the careless way in which this war was executed. George Bush should be made accountable for his one man crusade to invade this tiny country that was never a threat to us. He should know no less punishment than the other terrorists. At the very least, he should be impeached.
